Job summary

Square One Resources is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Poland to own technical direction for AI-powered financial services products. You will lead a product squad, deliver production-grade GenAI solutions, and mentor engineers while collaborating with platform teams.

Bring 10+ years of software experience, deep GenAI/LLM know-how, and strong Python/Node.js expertise. You will shape architecture, drive risk management, and ensure compliant, secure implementations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including production AI/ML systems.
• Proven experience as a Technical Lead / Lead Software Engineer with team leadership.
• Hands-on, production experience with GenAI/LLM systems beyond PoCs.
• Proven design and delivery of LLM workflows, RAG pipelines and agentic AI.
• Experience building client-facing GenAI products in production.
• Deep expertise in Python or Node.js, with solid knowledge of the other.
• Experience designing cloud-native apps on AWS and event-driven/serverless patterns.
• Own architectural decisions, manage technical risk and governance processes.
• Strong prompt engineering, RAG, LLM evaluation and agent frameworks.
• Strong English communication skills – C1 or above.

Job description

• Proven experience as a Technical Lead / Lead Software Engineer, including:
  • leading an engineering team or product squad,
  • setting technical direction,

You will join a team building AI-powered products for the financial services sector. The project focuses on developing and operating production-grade GenAI solutions, including agentic systems that automate complex business processes and support users in making better, faster decisions.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be the most senior technical voice within one of the product squads, working closely with the Engineering Manager. You will combine technical leadership, architectural ownership and hands-on software engineering.

This is a role for an engineer who combines strong software engineering expertise with proven, hands-on experience building and operating GenAI/LLM systems in production.

• Set the technical direction for the squad and make key architectural decisions.
• Own technical quality, scalability, maintainability and reliability of the solutions being developed.
• Design and develop production-grade LLM solutions, including:
• RAG pipelines,
• agentic workflows,
• LLM integrations with business systems,

• Deliver production-grade software using Python and/or Node.js, working across backend services and system integrations.
• Design and develop cloud-native applications on AWS, particularly event-driven and serverless architectures.
• Mentor and support engineers through code reviews, design reviews, pair programming and day-to-day technical guidance.
• Identify and manage technical risks and ensure long-term maintainability of the solutions.
• Represent the engineering perspective in architectural and technical governance processes, including architecture reviews.
• Work closely with platform teams, consuming shared capabilities and contributing reusable patterns and components.
• Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools across the software development lifecycle – from planning and design through development, code review, testing and deployment.
• Ensure that AI solutions are secure, auditable and compliant-by-design, meeting the standards expected in regulated financial services.
• Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
