Adtran Networks in Gdynia, Poland, seeks a versatile SVT engineer to join our team. You will work hands-on in the lab with network elements, optics and test equipment, while automating tests and repetitive tasks using Python, Robot Framework and Jenkins.

Experience with optical tech is welcome; a strong engineering mindset, fast learning and excellent English are essential as you identify root causes, reproduce issues, and drive improvements in our test processes.

Qualificações

• Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, CS or similar field.
• Some hands-on testing/validation/engineering experience.
• Scripting or programming skills in any language.
• Hands-on attitude; comfortable building test setups.
• Fast learner with ability to work independently and deep-dive into problems.
• Strong written and spoken English; good communication and teamwork.

Responsabilidades

The System Verification Test (SVT) team verifies and validates Adtran's optical transport products from the customer's perspective, on real DWDM hardware used by major network operators in Europe and the US.

We are looking for a versatile engineer who gets up to speed quickly, enjoys hands‑on work in the lab, and looks for smarter ways of working. In this role you combine hands‑on lab work with smart automation: you apply AI tools and scripts to remove repetitive work, and you take ownership of difficult problems until they are fully understood. Experience with optical technologies is welcome; a strong engineering mindset and the ability to learn quickly matter most.

What you will do

• Build, wire and maintain test setups in the lab: network elements, pluggable optics, fibers, traffic generators and measurement equipment
• Plan and run system and end‑to‑end test scenarios from the customer's perspective
• Automate tests, configuration and repetitive lab work (Python, Robot Framework, Jenkins)
• Use AI tools to speed up the work: writing and reviewing test cases, generating scripts, analyzing logs and results, documentation
• Investigate issues in depth: reproduce, isolate and analyze defects, and work them through with development until they are fixed
• Write test cases, results and defect reports in our test management system
• Propose and drive improvements to our test process, tools and lab
• Learn new technologies, test methods and measurement equipment as the product evolves

What we expect

Required

• Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, Physics or a similar technical field
• Some experience in testing, validation, integration or a similar hands‑on engineering role (industry, internship or substantial university projects)
• Scripting or programming skills in any language
• Practical, hands‑on attitude: you like working with real hardware and are not afraid to build a setup yourself
• Fast learner who can work independently and also dig deep into a complex problem
• Very good written and spoken English
• Good communication and teamwork; well organized

Nice to have

• Knowledge of fiber‑optic technology: DWDM, ROADMs, optical amplifiers, fiber transmission basics (attenuation, dispersion, OSNR)
• Knowledge of networking and transport protocols: Ethernet, IP, OTN; management protocols such as NETCONF/YANG or SNMP
• Experience using AI tools (LLM assistants, coding agents) in engineering work
• Experience with our automation stack: Python, Robot Framework and Jenkins; GitLinux command line; configuration of telecom or network devices
• Experience with measurement equipment: traffic testers, optical power meters, OSA
