Job summary

About the role: What's in the Box

You'll work with the company's GenAI Enablement Squad, a cross‑functional team helping teams across the company unlock the practical value of AI. The mission is simple: identify high‑impact problems, build AI‑powered solutions that solve them, and scale what works. As a Staff Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of engineering, product, and business. One week you might be embedded with the HR or Finance teams understanding how they work; the next you'll be building an agentic workflow, integrating it into the internal tooling, or scaling a successful prototype into a production system used across the company.

This is a highly hands‑on role. You'll work on problems from discovery to production, working directly with engineers, product managers, and non‑technical stakeholders. Rather than waiting for requirements, you'll help define them—identifying where AI can create real leverage and shipping solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.

While you'll support and advise other engineers and influence technical direction, your primary impact comes from building products people actually use.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

• Partner directly with teams across the company to understand their workflows, uncover opportunities, and identify where AI can meaningfully improve productivity or decision‑making.
• Rapidly prototype AI‑powered solutions and validate them with real users before investing in production systems.
• Design, build, and operate production‑grade AI applications including agents, workflow automations, retrieval systems, developer tools, and business assistants.
• Deliver projects end‑to‑end—from problem discovery and solution design through implementation, deployment, measurement, and iteration.
• Build reusable AI assistants distributed through the internal plugin marketplace, helping teams solve recurring problems without reinventing the wheel.
• Turn successful one‑off solutions into reusable platform capabilities that accelerate future AI development across the organisation.
• Work closely with platform engineers to improve the internal AI infrastructure, ensuring solutions remain reliable, secure, observable, and cost‑effective.
• Share knowledge across the engineering organisation and support teammates through design discussions, pairing, and technical guidance.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

• Experience building production AI applications using modern LLMs, including agents, RAG, workflow automation, structured generation, evaluation, and prompt engineering.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience building reliable, maintainable, observable production systems.
• A product mindset—you care as much about user adoption and business impact as technical elegance.
• Experience working directly with customers or business stakeholders to understand ambiguous problems and translate them into software.
• Comfort moving quickly from idea to prototype while knowing when to invest in scalability and production quality.
• Experience working with managed AI platforms such as AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Vertex AI.
• Strong programming skills in Python or another modern backend language.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both engineers and non‑technical audiences.
• Curiosity, pragmatism, and a willingness to experiment. You know there is rarely a perfect AI solution—only one that delivers meaningful value.

Nice to have:

• Experience building internal developer platforms or productivity tooling.
• Experience evaluating LLM quality, latency, and cost trade‑offs.
• Experience deploying AI systems at organisational scale.
• Familiarity with MCP, tool calling, agent orchestration frameworks, or workflow engines.
• Experience measuring AI adoption and defining product success metrics.
