Job summary

VictoriaMetrics is seeking a Go engineer to join our distributed tracing project VictoriaTraces as an Independent Contractor. You will contribute to development and maintenance, focus on performance, and collaborate with open-source contributors.

The role emphasizes writing clean code, improving documentation, and engaging with the community across Slack, GitHub, and other channels while aligning with product direction and user needs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building and operating production systems.
• Ability to understand, write, and review Golang code.
• Understanding of the observability domain and distributed systems.
• User-focused, willing to help debug real-world issues.
• High ownership and ability to drive tasks independently.
• Strong written and spoken English required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain VictoriaTraces, our distributed tracing solution.
• Collaborate with the open-source community in issue discussions and pull requests.
• Improve documentation to help users find answers quickly on their own.
• Ensure changes align with product direction and user needs.
• Strengthen tests and improve code quality to maintain performance.
