Job summary

Moderna in Warsaw is seeking a hands-on DevSecOps Software Engineer to join our international business services hub. You will partner with developers to build secure, scalable platform capabilities, accelerating software delivery across the organization.

You will work across software engineering, cloud infrastructure, automation, AI-enabled tooling, and platform operations to improve developer experience and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering or platform engineering experience.
• Strong skills in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
• Hands-on AWS experience.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines for production systems.
• Interest in tooling, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and secure software delivery.
• Solid fundamentals: testing, code review, version control, and system design.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and cover broader platform roles.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve automation for Moderna's internal developer platform using Python, TypeScript, GitHub Actions, Pulumi, Docker, AWS, JFrog, and various APIs.
• Collaborate with application engineering teams to migrate workloads onto secure platform capabilities.
• Onboard repositories and teams, validate platform behaviour, improve workflows, and document remediation paths.
• Design and maintain developer remote workspace infrastructure, templates, container configs, and onboarding docs.
• Improve platform reliability via monitoring, alerts, dashboards, and runbooks.
• Develop internal docs and guidance to enable consistent use of platform capabilities.
• Identify recurring challenges and improve shared frameworks and tooling.
• Provide operational support for owned platform services and automate routine tasks.
• Support AI-assisted development by integrating MCP-style capabilities and AI workflows.
• Contribute across the full software lifecycle from design to production operations.

As a hands‑on DevSecOps Software Engineer, you'll partner directly with developers to build secure, scalable platform capabilities that simplify software delivery and accelerate innovation across the organization.

Working across software engineering, cloud infrastructure, automation, AI‑enabled developer tooling, and platform operations, you'll play a key role in improving developer experience while helping teams deliver modern applications faster, more securely, and with greater reliability.

Here’s What You’ll Do

• Build and evolve automation that powers Moderna's internal developer platform using technologies including Python, TypeScript, GitHub Actions, Pulumi, Docker, AWS, JFrog, and a variety of vendor APIs.
• Collaborate closely with application engineering teams ("Builders") to migrate workloads onto standardized, secure platform capabilities.
• Support the migration and ongoing management of existing DevOps tooling by onboarding repositories and engineering teams, validating platform behaviour, improving developer workflows, and documenting remediation paths.
• Design, build, and maintain developer remote workspace infrastructure, reusable templates, container configurations, base images, development tooling, and onboarding documentation that enable teams to become productive quickly.
• Improve platform reliability and operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, dashboards, runbooks, and automation that reduces operational toil.
• Develop clear internal documentation, implementation examples, and "paved road" guidance that enables engineering teams to adopt platform capabilities consistently.
• Identify recurring developer challenges and continuously improve shared frameworks, reusable templates, automation, and platform tooling that enhance engineering productivity.
• Participate in operational support for owned platform services while continuously automating repetitive operational activities.
• Help expand AI‑assisted software development by integrating MCP‑style capabilities, packaging internal engineering tools, supporting AI agents, and improving developer experience through modern AI‑powered workflows.
• Contribute across the complete software lifecycle—from design and implementation through cloud infrastructure, deployment, CI/CD, and production operations—while continually expanding your technical expertise.

Here's What You'll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps or a related role.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating solutions in AWS.
• Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for production systems.
• Interest in developer tooling, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and secure software delivery.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing, code review, version control, and system design.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing team priorities and contribute across a range of platform engineering responsibilities, including areas outside immediate prior experience.

Here's What You'll Bring To The Table (Preferred Qualifications)

• Familiar with infrastructure as code tools.
• Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD platforms.
• Experience with artifact repositories such as JFrog Artifactory, Nexus, GitHub Packages, or similar.
• Experience with security scanning tools, dependency management, code scanning, or vulnerability remediation workflows.
• Comfort partnering with multiple engineering teams and influencing adoption through strong technical execution.
