Job summary

Nortal in Kraków, Poland is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (WordPress) for long-term, full-time work at our service center. You will join News UK’s extension team to deliver editorial tools, websites and apps, collaborating with product teams and journalists to power storytelling experiences.

Requirements include strong PHP/WordPress mastery, React/Gutenberg experience, and a track record with automated tests and modern DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Extensive PHP and WordPress experience.
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Gutenberg skills.
• Experience with automated tests (PHPUnit, Jest).
• AWS familiarity and modern DevOps tooling experience.
• Proven mentoring and strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Shape future architecture with Principal Engineers for scalability.
• Work across PHP/WordPress and JS/TypeScript codebases.
• Build tools to streamline newsroom workflows.
• Ensure performance, security and maintainability standards.
• Mentor teammates and drive engineering improvements.
