Job summary

Engenious is seeking an experienced UX Designer to lead discovery and definition activities for a complex engineering and automation ecosystem. You will understand users, workflows, business objectives, and product opportunities through research and analysis to inform decisions.

You will conduct UX research, map journeys, synthesize findings into personas and artifacts, facilitate workshops with stakeholders, and define UX/UI requirements to ensure a cohesive experience across products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional UX experience in enterprise/industrial contexts.
• Led at least one substantial discovery or research initiative for a complex system.
• Experience researching workflows used by expert/technical users.
• Clear ability to turn ambiguous stakeholder input into a structured plan.

Job description

For our client, we are looking for a UX Designer who will be responsible for leading UX discovery and definition activities for a complex engineering and automation ecosystem. The role focuses on understanding users, workflows, business objectives, and product opportunities through research and analysis, providing a strong foundation for product and design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct UX research activities, including stakeholder and user interviews, workflow analysis, and evaluation of existing solutions.
• Map complex user journeys, engineering workflows, dependencies, and pain points across multiple systems and applications.
• Identify user needs, business challenges, risks, and opportunities for product improvement.
• Facilitate workshops with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to align on problems, priorities, and opportunities.
• Synthesize research findings into actionable UX deliverables such as personas, Jobs-to-Be-Done, journey maps, service blueprints, and problem statements.
• Create evidence-based recommendations and a prioritized UX opportunity backlog to support product strategy and roadmap decisions.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, Engineering teams, and UX leadership.
• Define UX and UI requirements to ensure a consistent user experience across products and touchpoints.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional UX experience, including experience in one of the following disciplines: Information Architecture, Product Design or Service Design, with a strong research component.
• Demonstrable ownership of at least one substantial discovery or research initiative for a complex enterprise, industrial, engineering, scientific, healthcare, financial, cybersecurity or other specialist system.
• Experience researching workflows used by expert or technical users.
• Evidence of turning ambiguous and conflicting stakeholder input into a structured research plan.
• Strong synthesis skills: affinity analysis, workflow mapping, service blueprinting, user archetypes, jobs-to-be-done and problem framing.
• Ability to model complex dependencies and alternative flows.
• Experience conducting UX audits or heuristic evaluations of mature applications.
• Experience facilitating workshops with senior, technical and cross-functional participants.
• Ability to communicate research findings in a concise, decision-oriented form.
• Ability to work independently.
• Professional English sufficient for interviews, workshops and documentation in an international environment.
• Experience with industrial automation, energy, utilities, engineering software, products that combine software with physical devices or embedded systems, or configuration tools is a strong plus.
