Job summary

VirtusLab in Kraków is seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer to design and evolve build tooling, maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, and optimize SDLC processes across multiple teams. You will work hands-on with JVM, Rust, Go, TypeScript, or C++, champion AI-assisted tooling, and communicate clearly to drive practical, high-quality software delivery.

This role values initiative, mentoring, and knowledge sharing, with opportunities to speak at events and contribute to the internal tooling community,

Qualifications

• Proven track record in developing build tooling solutions, maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines, and optimising SDLC processes.
• Evidence-based adoption of AI-assisted development tooling and workflows.
• Hands-on familiarity with modern build systems, SDLC engineering, IDE ecosystems, and developer productivity tooling.
• Strong engineering proficiency in JVM, Rust, Go, TypeScript, or C++.
• Excellent technical communication and pragmatic problem-solving.
• Independent technical blocker resolution and cross-team architectural alignment.
• Self-directed delivery of project milestones and high-quality technical outcomes.
• Background in public speaking, technical writing, or developer community engagement.
• English language proficiency at a minimum B2/C1 level for seamless technical communication.

Senior Tooling Engineer

Required Technical Profile & Capabilities

• Proven track record in developing build tooling solutions, maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines, and optimising SDLC processes
• Practical, evidence-based adoption of AI-assisted development tooling and workflows (grounded in production experience or systematic experimentation over hype)
• Hands-on familiarity with modern build systems, SDLC engineering, IDE ecosystems, and developer productivity tooling
• Strong engineering proficiency in at least one ecosystem: JVM (Java, Scala, or Kotlin), Rust, Go, TypeScript, or C++
• Effective technical communication paired with a pragmatic problem-solving methodology
• Independent technical blocker resolution and proactive cross-team architectural alignment
• Self-directed delivery of project milestones and high-quality technical outcomes
• Background in public speaking, technical writing, or developer community engagement, alongside advisory and knowledge-sharing capabilities (significant asset)
• English language proficiency at a minimum [B2/C1] level, ensuring seamless technical communication
