Job summary

The Codest is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Python and routing algorithms to support the Delivery Optimization Engine for a leading European e-commerce platform. You will design and scale high-throughput backend services, leveraging cloud-native Python architectures and routing APIs.

Requirements include 4+ years in backend development with Python/SQL, experience in logistics routing, geospatial data (PostGIS), and cloud tools (GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Airflow).

Qualifications

• 4+ years of commercial backend software development using Python and SQL.
• Experience with routing algorithms and logistics domain knowledge is required.
• Familiarity with geospatial data concepts (PostGIS, spatial indexing) and cloud ecosystems (GCP).
• Strong emphasis on clean code, TDD, CI/CD, and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Support design and scaling of high-throughput services powering first- and last-mile operations.

Our client is one of the largest e-commerce platforms in Europe, used by millions of users every day. The company connects sellers - from small businesses to global brands - with customers, offering a vast product selection, fast delivery, and a well-crafted shopping experience.

Project Name: Delivery Optimization Engine (DOE)

We are looking for support of Senior Software Engineer specializing in Python and routing algorithms. The specialist will be responsible for

supporting the design and scaling of high-throughput services that power our first and last-mile operations. By leveraging network analysis and spatial optimization, the specialist will assist in building the next generation of company's Delivery Optimization Engine (DOE) and directly enhancing our logistics efficiency.

Modern Tech Stack: We are bypassing traditional, legacy GIS software in favor of cloud-native Python architectures, Big Data solutions, and modern routing APIs (e.g., Google, HERE, open-source routing engines).

The role:

• Backend & Routing: Python, Microservices, Open-source & Commercial Routing Engines.

• Data & Cloud: Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow Composer/Airflow), SQL.

• Infrastructure: Kubernetes,Terraform, CI/CD pipelines.

• At least 4 years of commercial experience in backend software development using Python and SQL.

• Possess experience or a strong understanding of the logistics domain, network analysis, and routing (e.g., graph theory, road network modeling, Vehicle Routing Problems).

• Experience with geospatial data concepts applied via code (e.g., H3/spatial indexing, clustering algorithms, PostGIS).

• Be familiar with cloud ecosystems (Google Cloud Platform preferred) and modern infrastructure tools (Kubernetes, Terraform, Airflow).

• Advocate for engineering excellence, including clean code, TDD, CI/CD, and a strong commitment to rigorous code reviews to maintain team architectural stability.

• Know how to design and scale a microservices-based architecture.

• A positive attitude, excellent teamwork skills, and a higher technical education (Computer Science or related fields).

• English level min. B2+

• Required to work from the Warsaw office once a month.
