Senior Software Engineer (PHP)

LastPass is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (PHP). In this role you will work with an Agile development team to build a product that serves over 5 million active users. You will take full ownership of critical features and continuously improve them to help secure our users’ digital lives and work.

About the Team

This Engineering Team focuses on LastPass’ Secure Access Experiences - an accessible, agentless approach to Identity and Access Management (IAM) for businesses of all sizes. You will collaborate with Product and QA teams to deliver innovative new features in this space.

Who will you work with?

You will work with Agile teams responsible for developing and maintaining Secure Access Experience features. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to shape the product and define effective software verification strategies. Additionally, you’ll engage with support teams to help assess and resolve incoming issues quickly and effectively.

What are some of the exciting challenges you will be working on?
  • Develop and deliver high-quality code, and own all stages of development including planning, design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues to support users effectively.
  • Actively contribute to team discussions, follow and advocate for best practices and industry standards.
  • Share knowledge, review pull requests, mentor peers, and suggest product improvements.
  • Participate in requirement analysis, planning, and estimation activities.
  • Collaborate with product owners and UX designers to meet delivery timelines.
  • Support Product Management in balancing cost and value, avoiding unnecessary features and technical debt.
  • Develop, test, and maintain solutions within your domain, while coordinating with other teams working on the product.
  • Create and maintain internal technical documentation, and participate in code reviews and community-driven decision-making.
  • Uphold coding and design guidelines, influence the technical roadmap, follow established processes, and coach mid-level engineers.
What does it take to work at LastPass?
  • Experience developing web applications in PHP
  • Knowledge of web infrastructure, HTTP, REST
  • Familiarity with OOP best practices, SOLID principles, and Clean Code
  • Experience with PHP design patterns
  • Understanding of PHP security practices (e.g., XSS, SQL Injection prevention)
  • Basic knowledge of Docker and web security
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Awareness of best practices and ability to apply them
  • Ability to manage complex tasks efficiently
  • Strong problem-solving skills and big-picture thinking
  • Effective knowledge sharing and mentoring skills
It's great, but not required:
