Job summary

Waymo is seeking a Software Engineer to design and operate mission-critical backend infrastructure for Waymo Driver and commercialization systems. This hybrid role reports to an Engineering Manager and emphasizes cross-team collaboration across mobile apps, cloud backends, and fleet operations.

You will build and evolve horizontal infrastructure, collaborate with other teams, scale systems for growth, and tackle real-world problems like fleet management and simulation.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of backend or infrastructure experience.

Responsibilities

• Help build and evolve mission-critical horizontal infrastructure and tooling that underpins all commercialization systems.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to develop systems and processes as business needs grow and evolve.
• Help scale our systems to meet the demands of commercial expansion and growing complexity.
• Solve hard, real-world problems such as world simulation for regression testing and evaluation of software services managing fleets for autonomous vehicles.
