Job summary

Box Poland is seeking a software engineer to help build the authorization platform. You will focus on policy decisions across roles and attributes to enable fast, scalable access control for the enterprise content platform.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in agile rituals, and help shape security practices while delivering robust Java services. Proficiency in English is required and experience with large-scale systems is valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in Java.
• Interest in security topics (authentication, identity, industry best practices).
• Experience building and operating high-scale, business-critical production services.
• Must speak English proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Attend and manage stand ups and update sprint task statuses daily.
• Attend team, project, and manager 1:1 meetings weekly.
• Collaborate with Product Management to refine requirements and break down complex projects into meaningful, deliverable units.
• Work collaboratively with other engineers, team members, across teams, and with partner organizations.
• Respond to technical and behavioral feedback from manager and peers.
• Play a role in developing and fostering Box culture.
• Represent Box Poland internally and externally.
• Participate in the production on-call rotation with the team members.

The Box Objects team builds the authorization platform. When someone views, edits, or shares content, a policy decision is made against roles and attributes — we own the service that makes it, correctly and in milliseconds, at enormous scale.

We're a newly formed team building for other engineers: the APIs, policy models, and primitives product teams across the company rely on to ship access control they can trust.

Who you are

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Be proficient in Java
• Interest in security topics (authentication, identity, industry best practices, etc.)
• Experience building and operating high-scale, business-critical production services
• Assess, communicate and complete project milestones with manager and team members in a time sensitive manner
• Must speak English proficiently

Nice to have

• Scala, PHP, Python, JavaScript or other modern software development language
• Practical experience working with GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and Kubernetes
