Job summary

CompanyCam, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails) to join our remote-first engineering team in the United States. You’ll design, implement and deliver cross-cutting features using Rails, Postgres, GraphQL and REST, with occasional front-end work.

You’ll mentor peers, tackle technical debt, and help evolve our culture and processes as we scale. The role emphasizes backend excellence, scalable data models, and collaboration with product, design and other engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails and relational databases.
• Experience with Redis, PostgreSQL and Sidekiq in production.
• Full-stack contribution across front-end, back-end and data layers.
• Experience leveraging AI to build or enhance tools and features.
• Ability to handle complex problems and communicate trade-offs clearly.
• Strong collaboration and mentorship to grow the team.
• You live and work permanently in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and deliver complex features in Ruby on Rails, Postgres, GraphQL, and REST, with occasional React/React Native work.
• Lead efforts to address technical debt and improve system reliability.
• Influence architecture, drive long-term improvements across services and applications.
• Maintain high code quality, testing coverage, and documentation; mentor others.
• Improve internal tooling, CI/CD, and monitoring for better developer experience.
• Facilitate technical discussions and decisions, guiding trade-offs.
• Escalate and unblock complex technical challenges for the team.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering to identify risks and opportunities early.
