AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking a Senior Python Developer to design and build scalable microservices and REST APIs. You will collaborate with Product, DevOps, and Frontend teams to deliver production-grade software.

The role focuses on Python core concepts, REST APIs, and distributed systems, with opportunities to work across FastAPI, Django, or Flask and modern testing practices. Flexible work options are available.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend Python development experience.
• Strong understanding of Python core concepts (OOP, async, memory management).
• Proven track record building production-grade REST APIs and distributed microservices.
• Relational DBs (PostgreSQL) and ORM proficiency.
• Experience with Pytest testing framework.
• Advanced Git and collaborative workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI, Django, Flask).
• Promote code quality with peer reviews and modern Python practices (typing, async).
• Containerize applications with Docker and optimize CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Design schemas and SQL queries; work with SQLAlchemy and relational/NoSQL databases.
• Integrate third-party APIs; ensure low latency, high availability, and security.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with frontend, product, and DevOps teams.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer to design and build scalable microservices and REST APIs, working closely with Product, DevOps, and Frontend teams.

MUST HAVES

• 4+ years of professional backend software development experience using Python.
• Deep understanding of Python core concepts (OOP, functional programming, memory management, async/concurrency, and data structures).
• API & Microservices: Proven track record of building and deploying production-grade REST APIs and distributed microservices architectures.
• Databases: Strong proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks.
• Testing: Commitment to writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using frameworks like Pytest.
• Version Control: Advanced proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (Pull Requests, branching strategies, code reviews).

NICE TO HAVES

• CI/CD & DevOps Tools: Solid hands-on experience with Docker (writing optimized Dockerfiles and Docker Compose).
• Highly desirable experience setting up and managing GitHub Actions workflows for automated testing and deployment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Architecture & Development: Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Python (e.g., FastAPI, Django, or Flask).
• Code Quality & Technical Standards: Write clean, readable, maintainable, and well-tested code. Conduct peer code reviews and promote modern Python practices (type hinting, async processing, design patterns).
• Containerization & CI/CD: Containerize applications using Docker and build/optimize automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for seamless deployment.
• Database Management: Design schema models, write optimized SQL queries, and work with ORMs (e.g., SQLAlchemy) alongside relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases.
• System Integration & Scalability: Integrate third-party APIs and services while ensuring low latency, high availability, and strong security standards.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams; mentor junior and mid-level engineers to elevate the team's overall technical capability.
