Job summary

N-iX is seeking a Backend .NET Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services in a distributed, microservices-based environment. You will work with C#/.NET, REST APIs, databases, and cloud technologies within an agile team to ensure high code quality and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 3+ years of commercial backend development experience with C#/.NET.
• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft development stack (C#, .NET, SQL Server).
• Experience designing REST APIs and backend services.
• Experience with microservices or distributed systems.
• Understanding of SOLID, clean code, and maintainable architecture.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD processes.
• Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native development knowledge (AWS/Azure).
• Excellent English or German communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using C#/.NET.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and support automated build, test, and deployment.
• Collaborate with DevOps and cloud engineers; participate in Scrum ceremonies.
• Migration to AWS or Azure and cloud-native development.

Your Role:

As a Backend .NET Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and integrations within a distributed, microservices-based environment.You will work primarily with C#/.NET, backend APIs, databases, messaging systems, and cloud technologies. As part of an agile engineering team, you will contribute to technical and architectural decisions, ensure high code quality, and continuously improve the reliability and performance of backend services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using C#/.NET.
• Build scalable solutions based on microservices architecture.
• Develop and integrate backend modules and services within complex distributed systems.
• Design and maintain integrations between internal and external systems.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including SQL Server and MongoDB.
• Implement asynchronous processing and messaging using RabbitMQ and Hangfire.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-tested code following SOLID principles and engineering best practices.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests, following Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices where applicable.
• Troubleshoot backend issues and contribute to improvements in system reliability and performance.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and support automated build, testing, and deployment processes.
• Work with containerized and cloud-based environments, including the strategic migration to AWS or Azure.
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and other team members to achieve sprint goals.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, refinements, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Estimate development tasks and contribute to realistic sprint planning.
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

What We Expect from You:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of commercial backend development experience with C#/.NET.
• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft development stack, particularly C#/.NET and SQL Server.
• Practical experience designing and developing REST APIs and backend services.
• Experience working with microservices or distributed systems.
• Good understanding of software design principles, including SOLID, clean code, and maintainable architecture.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.
• Experience working with relational databases; knowledge of NoSQL databases is an advantage.
• Understanding of messaging and asynchronous processing concepts.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD processes.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native development is preferred.
• AWS or Azure experience is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Proactive, self-organized approach to problem solving.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an agile engineering team.
• Willingness to contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English or German
