About the Role

Sunreef Yachts is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical & Marine Systems Designer to join our growing team at our shipyard in Gdańsk, Poland. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and integration of key mechanical systems aboard luxury yachts, including propulsion, exhaust, cooling, and engine room arrangements.

This is a hands‑on, cross‑functional position involving system design, collaboration with equipment manufacturers, coordination with classification societies, and support for sea trials and commissioning. You will also provide technical leadership and mentorship within a team of engineers and designers, playing a vital role in shaping next‑generation vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design of propulsion shaft lines and alignment
  • Selection and integration of propulsion units (propellers, waterjets, pods, etc.)
  • Design of marine exhaust systems (silencers, backpressure control, thermal insulation)
  • Arrangement and installation of engine room machinery and auxiliary systems
  • Design of support systems (fuel supply, lube oil, cooling water, ventilation)
  • Integration of systems into vessel layout, ensuring serviceability and classification compliance
  • Participation in sea trials and commissioning of propulsion and mechanical systems
  • Preparation and supervision of 2D/3D technical documentation (schematics, layouts, routings)
  • Collaboration with engine/equipment suppliers and classification societies
  • Coordination with other disciplines (structure, outfitting, electrical, production)
  • Mentorship and technical support for junior designers and engineers
Requirements
  • Degree in mechanical or marine engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical/marine systems design (yacht or shipbuilding preferred)
  • Knowledge of classification society rules (DNV, RINA, ABS, etc.)
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or similar)
  • Hands‑on experience with system routing and complex integration
  • Strong technical and organizational skills
  • Fluent in English (minimum B2/C1)
  • Independent and team‑oriented with leadership capability
