Job summary

SoftServe Inc. is hiring for a Backend Engineer role focused on Java services with ownership of RESTful APIs and microservices for consumer products used in Canada and the UK. The role also includes contributions to React frontends as part of full-stack feature development.

You will design and own Java services, work with engineering, design, and product partners, and bring ideas from concept to production, balancing security, performance, and scalability across platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production experience with Java, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
• Familiar with CI/CD, automated testing, and production service management.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Upper-intermediate English or higher for international teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Java-based RESTful APIs and microservices powering Canada and UK products.
• Develop full-stack features end-to-end, connecting Java backends with React/TypeScript frontends.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to shape solutions and priorities.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural trade-offs.
• Own backend services from concept through deployment and production support.
• Apply security, performance, and code quality best practices for maintainable systems.
• Troubleshoot production issues using observability and monitoring tools.
