Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to design and implement scalable backend systems. You will work on real-time streaming platforms, distributed data processing, and cloud-native architectures, leveraging Kafka, CosmosDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Azure services.

The role emphasizes strong Java/Spring Boot expertise, microservices, security with Azure AD/OAuth, and containerized deployments with Docker/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Java development experience with Spring Boot.
• Expertise with ORM frameworks such as JPA and iBatis.
• Security experience with Azure AD and OAuth.
• Experience with Kafka, CosmosDB, PostgreSQL and Redis for streaming/storage.
• Familiarity with REST, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Maven and Gradle.
• Understanding of microservices and data streaming architectures.
• Strong CS fundamentals and modern SDLC practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.
• Proven track record delivering high-throughput, real-time streaming platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Java-based backend solutions using Spring Boot and microservices architectures
• Build and maintain real-time streaming and time-series data platforms with high performance and throughput
• Architect solutions leveraging Kafka, CosmosDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis for distributed data processing
• Implement security best practices using Azure AD and OAuth across enterprise applications
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes on Azure
• Translate business requirements into global technical solutions in collaboration with cross-functional technology teams
• Apply AI-assisted software development practices to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
• Contribute to solution architecture decisions, ensuring resilience, scalability, and maintainability
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, adhering to modern SDLC practices

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Java development with Spring Boot
