Job summary

AFRY is seeking a senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to join our Design Center in Poland. You will work with our Swedish geotechnical team on complex infrastructure and urban projects, focusing on retaining structures and sheet pile walls.

Based in a hybrid setup with offices in Poznań, Kraków or Łódź, you will conduct advanced analyses in soft clay, uphold Eurocode standards, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering) or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
At least 5 years of experience in geotechnical design.
Proven experience in design and dimensioning of geotechnical structures.
Experience working in soft clay conditions.
Strong knowledge of Eurocode and relevant geotechnical standards.
Experience in numerical modelling tools (e.g. PLAXIS, SLOPE/W).
Good command of English.

Responsibilities

Designing and dimensioning geotechnical structures with emphasis on sheet pile walls and retaining structures.
Performing advanced geotechnical analyses, especially in soft clay.
Taking technical responsibility for selected projects and delivering high-quality results.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including structural engineers.
Preparing technical documentation, design calculations and reports.
Providing geotechnical expertise throughout all project phases.
Mentoring junior engineers and sharing knowledge within the team.
Contributing to continuous improvement of design methods and standards.
