Job summary

Nortal is seeking a Senior or Principal level Full Stack Software Engineer to design and build backend services in Java and craft modern web interfaces with Angular or React. The role emphasizes AI-assisted spec-driven development, high-quality code, and mentoring other engineers.

You will work across the stack, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to meaningful projects for governments, healthcare, telecom, and industry. This is a remote role based in Poland or Bulgaria.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional full-stack development experience.
• Proficient in Java (Spring / Spring Boot) and modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience with React or Angular and TypeScript, plus modern tooling.
• Hands-on cloud and container skills (AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker).
• Knowledge of REST APIs, databases, testing, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with Scrum, Lean, and agile development practices.
• Excellent communication in English; German B2 (B2) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain software across backend and frontend.
• Own the full development lifecycle from design to deployment.
• Ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Adopt AI-assisted, spec-driven development practices as part of the workflow.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and pairing.
