Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to support electrical design activities for the Poland AP1000 Project in the Warsaw, Poland project office. This role requires deep expertise in electrical systems and layout design, along with the ability to produce comprehensive design documentation that meets project and regulatory standards. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values, to external partners including vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors, demonstrable managerial experience, proven problem‑solving abilities, a can‑do attitude, and a commitment to quality.
Major Responsibilities:
- Extensive understanding of all engineering discipline drawings and electrical discipline wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, system calculations, 1‑line and 3‑line drawings, schematics, and able to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations for 230V–400kV systems.
- Self‑starter capable of independent creative design, with direction, using Bechtel and industry proven concepts, and procedures.
- Properly interpret and apply codes & standards (US, IEC, PL) and customer design requirements for the preparation of electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions and system descriptions related to design tasks.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small‑size project or assignment in support of a global business unit or staff group, including preparation of original design layouts, details, drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
- Design, develop, modify, and evaluate components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Coordinate with Polish sub‑contractor and review sub‑contractor deliverables to support Electrical design.
- Support design and operations permitting activities.
- Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
- Prepare conceptual studies, designs drawings, reports or proposals.
- Provide technical assistance to other electrical personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
- Assist project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and addressing issues during project execution.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- University degree in electrical or other engineering discipline and 5–8 years of relevant power generation experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Licensed Professional Design Engineer (Poland) – Electrical engineer authorised to independently perform technical design tasks in construction, with experience in designing electrical and power installations. Holds unrestricted building qualifications in the electrical specialty and is a registered member of the Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers (PIIB).
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, level B2 or better, and Polish C2/Native Language level.
- Highly collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and within team environments.
- Extensive knowledge and application of Polish laws, European regulations, and industry and regulatory codes and standards supporting design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
- Experience developing permitting design drawings and requirements in Poland.
- Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively.
- Previous hands‑on or extensive working knowledge with ETAP and other industry‑wide electrical system design tools, such as CAD 2D and 3‑D Computer Aided Design (CAD), AGI32 software, cable designing and routing software.
- Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline.
- Deep understanding of industrial electrical systems, including schematics, equipment layouts, and system calculations in power generation facilities.
- Proficient in engineering drawings and calculations including minimum 5 years in equipment sizing, cable sizing, earthing system, lighting system, underground distribution, arc‑flash safety and lightning protection system.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in ISO‑9000 quality assurance programs or NQA‑1 qualifications.
- Construction field experience in power generation or petro‑chemical facility.
- Electrical Construction Chartered Engineer, The Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers.
- Experience with 110kV or higher power distribution, steam turbine power generation.
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) control systems design.
- Power distribution relay protection design and management.
- Knowledge of ATEX regulations and standards (Directive 2014/34/EU, PN‑EN 60079).
