As a Senior Data Scientist (m/f/d), you will develop and deploy machine learning solutions across manufacturing, commercial, R&D, and supply chain functions. You will define best-practice standards for models and mentor a team of data scientists while driving Clariant's data-driven transformation journey.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deploy machine learning solutions across manufacturing, commercial, R&D, and supply chain
  • Define best-practice standards for models and approaches
  • Mentor a team of data scientists across multiple initiatives
  • Drive problem framing, hypothesis development, and solution architecture in cross‑functional teams
  • Build robust modular pipelines enabling reusable ML components
  • Review and challenge modeling approaches, ensuring scientific rigor and business relevance
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and shape priorities, challenge assumptions and quantify value
  • Promote agile delivery and experimentation culture
Requirements
  • Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or similar field
  • 4+ years of experience delivering end-to-end machine learning projects
  • Industrial/process-driven experience preferred
  • Exposure to product-driven development
  • Experience mentoring data scientists is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch), SQL and data orchestration
  • Cloud experience (AWS preferred) & MLOps familiarity
  • Bonus: Experience with plant/process data systems
  • Strong analytical mindset combining structured thinking and pragmatic problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive ownership approach to projects
