Job summary

Waymo is seeking a seasoned backend/infra engineer to contribute to mission-critical onboard software. You will collaborate with system and hardware engineers, and product teams to design scalable solutions that grow the business and improve safety.

You will tackle challenges such as resilience to hardware failures, reducing CPU usage and heat, and efficient data offload, while maintaining robust distributed systems. A BS in CS or equivalent and 5+ years in backend/infra are required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of backend/infra experience
• Experience with distributed and large-scale systems

Responsibilities

• Work on mission-critical onboard software
• Collaborate with system engineers, hardware engineers, and Product to develop solutions needed to grow and evolve the business
• Solve real-world challenges such as resilience to hardware failures, effective processing to reduce CPU consumption and heat signature, and effective data selection and offload
