Job summary

SQUARE ONE RESOURCES sp. z o.o. in Warsaw seeks a Senior Data Governance Engineer (GCP) to drive the design and implementation of cloud-based governance for a strategic data transformation program.

You will partner with Data Engineering, BI, and business data owners to build a modern data platform on GCP, focusing on metadata, data catalog, quality, lineage, and secure data access. Experience with BigQuery/Dataplex and documentation is essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience with GCP in Data Governance roles.
• 3–5 years in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Quality domains.
• Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Dataplex, and Data Catalog.
• Experience with metadata management and data lineage.
• Ability to work with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience creating technical documentation and participating in code reviews.
• Knowledge of data ownership and stewardship processes.
• Understanding of data governance concepts and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Data Governance processes and standards within the GCP environment.
• Develop and maintain enterprise data catalog solutions and metadata management.
• Define metadata models, data catalog structures, and asset relationships.
• Define, document, and enforce data access management policies.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, BI, Analytics teams, and stakeholders to improve governance maturity.
• Support business users in discovering, understanding, and effectively using available data assets.
• Participate in defining and implementing Data Contracts and data exchange standards.
• Create and maintain technical documentation related to governance processes, standards, and data models.
• Contribute to improving data security, quality, and usability across the organization.
• Participate in technical discussions, solution design, and code reviews.

We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Engineer (GCP) to join a strategic data transformation program for a large organization operating in the digital services sector. The project focuses on migrating analytical environments from an on-premise architecture to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and building a modern data platform supporting business processes, advanced analytics, improved user experience, and future adoption of AI/LLM solutions. The role combines strong Google Cloud Platform expertise with a solid understanding of Data Governance principles. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working within the GCP ecosystem and have practical experience in metadata management, data quality, lineage, ownership, and access governance. The position involves designing and implementing Data Governance processes in a cloud-based data environment, developing data catalog capabilities, managing metadata, defining governance standards, and ensuring secure and efficient data usage across the organization. The role requires close collaboration with Data Engineering teams, BI teams, and business data owners to establish scalable governance frameworks and improve data reliability and accessibility.
