Job summary

Dateonic is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize modern cloud-based data platforms powering analytics, AI, and data products. You’ll work on AWS with Databricks and expand into GCP and Azure as projects require, contributing to lakehouse architectures and data governance.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Spark, Delta Lake, and batch/streaming pipelines.
• Python and SQL programming with data modelling and governance knowledge.
• Databricks Lakehouse Platform experience, ideally on AWS (S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Kinesis, Lambda).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimise scalable batch, streaming, and near-real-time data platforms on AWS/Databricks (and other clouds as needed).
• Build ingestion, transformation, and curation workflows for structured and unstructured data using lakehouse patterns.
• Support cloud-to-cloud migrations and re-platforming of legacy pipelines and storage layers.
• Deliver production-grade datasets for ML, causal modelling, and GenAI use cases.
• Design data models and orchestrate workflows with Databricks Workflows, Airflow, dbt or cloud-native equivalents.
• Enforce data governance, lineage, quality and access controls using Unity Catalog, Lake Formation, or equivalents.
• Implement platform observability, data freshness, and cost efficiency, with SLA considerations.
• Collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to refine architecture.
