Job summary

SoftServe is seeking a Senior Big Data Engineer to contribute to enterprise-scale data solutions for a US healthcare provider, focusing on dialysis services. You will work within SoftServe’s Big Data & Analytics CoE, delivering scalable data products and supporting modern data architectures across multiple domains.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on Data Engineer experience.
• 2+ years of practical work with Google Cloud Platform services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, Cloud SQL).
• Proficiency in Python or Java for pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills for building data solutions and pipelines.
• Experience with schema migration tools (Liquibase or Flyway).
• Familiarity with Snowflake data platform.
• CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Terraform, and version control systems.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT and Data Mesh/Data Lakehouse concepts.
• Strong ownership and problem-solving skills; English communication in global teams.

• Onboard new data sources like Snowflake and Salesforce into the EDП
• Build and maintain data pipelines using GCP services (Dataflow, BigQuery, Composer)
• Create low-level designs for data integrations and production-ready implementations
• Collaborate with data architects and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Optimize data processing for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost
• Advance data mesh and data governance practices across the platform
• Produce technical docs and reusable implementation patterns
• Participate in PoCs and technical evaluations to validate new capabilities

As a Senior Big Data Engineer, you will contribute to building enterprise-scale data solutions for a leading US healthcare provider focused on dialysis services. You will work within SoftServe’s Big Data & Analytics Center of Excellence, delivering scalable data products and supporting the evolution of modern data architectures across multiple business domains

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data integration and transformation solutions, including onboarding new data sources such as Snowflake and Salesforce into the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP)


• Create low-level designs for data integrations and implement reliable, production-ready data pipelines using GCP services, ensuring high data quality, performance, and availability


• Build, enhance, and support data workflows and platform components leveraging technologies such as Dataflow, BigQuery, Composer, Cloud SQL, Terraform, CI/CD, and related cloud infrastructure tools


• Collaborate with data architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and actionable insights


• Optimize data processing systems and platform services for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency


• Contribute to the evolution of the data platform by introducing new technologies, best practices, automation, and AI-driven approaches for data governance and configuration management


• Support implementation of data mesh principles, continuous improvement initiatives, and modernization of data engineering practices across the platform


• Produce technical documentation, knowledge transfer materials, and reusable implementation patterns to support long-term platform sustainability


• Participate in proof-of-concept activities and technical evaluations to validate new solutions and capabilities

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience gained over 6+ years of working as a Data Engineer


• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services, including BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, and Cloud SQL, gained over 2+ years of practical work


• Proficiency in Python or Java for creating pipelines


• Strong hands-on experience with SQL for building data solutions and processing pipelines


• Experience with schema migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway


• Solid understanding of data integration, databases, and data connectivity concepts


• Exposure to Snowflake data platform


• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Terraform, and version control systems


• Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and modern data architectures like Data Lakehouse/Data Mesh


• Attention to detail, strong sense of ownership, and problem-solving skills to collaborate in a cross-functional environment


• Upper-intermediate or higher English level for effective communication in global teams
