Job summary

Trading 212 is seeking Senior Backend Engineers to join our backend teams in Europe. You will own backend solutions end to end, from understanding the business problem to production, ensuring performance and data integrity.

You will work in small autonomous groups with fast cycles and ownership across the full stack. Ideal candidates have delivery experience with microservices, strong knowledge of relational databases, and the ability to communicate trade-offs clearly.

Qualifications

• Proven ownership of backend services in a microservices setup.
• Strong grasp of HTTP, WebSockets, and AMQP and when to use each.
• Production fluency in at least one modern backend framework.
• Deep knowledge of relational databases, indexing and transactions.
• Experience designing for availability, scalability and resilience.
• Clear, structured problem-solving and ability to explain trade-offs.
• Solid engineering fundamentals and adaptability to new tech.

Responsibilities

• Own backend solutions end to end from problem to production.
• Design and evolve services for performance, scale and data integrity.
• Make technical decisions with awareness of constraints and trade-offs.
• Keep code and systems maintainable as requirements evolve.
• Diagnose production problems and address root causes.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to translate requirements.
• Review work, share knowledge and raise engineering standards.
