Job summary

Luxoft Poland is seeking a Senior Python engineer to design, build, and operate REST and asynchronous APIs and integration services on Azure. You will own reliability, security, and performance from data model to observability.

You will develop Python REST and async APIs with FastAPI/Django, model PostgreSQL and Cosmos DB schemas, and implement messaging with Azure services. Production support and CI/CD readiness are required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficient in C# and .NET, including legacy and modern versions.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and working with Python services.
• Strong Azure cloud, CI/CD, and observability knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python REST and async APIs with FastAPI / Django; publish and version OpenAPI contracts.
• Model relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Cosmos DB) schemas; manage migrations.
• Implement messaging via Azure Service Bus / Event Grid and background processing with Celery and Azure Functions.
• Configure authentication and authorisation (OAuth2, JWT, Azure AD / Entra ID), Redis caching and API gateway routing / versioning (Azure API Management).
• Containerise services (Docker) and prepare them for AKS / Container Apps deployment through CI/CD.
• Instrument structured logging, tracing and metrics with Application Insights / OpenTelemetry; define alerts.
• Provide production support for owned services, including root-cause analysis and post-incident actions.

Project Description

Senior Python engineer designing, building and operating REST and asynchronous APIs and integration services on Azure. Owns reliability, security and performance of the services in scope, from data model to observability.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python REST and async APIs with FastAPI / Django; publish and version OpenAPI contracts.
• Model relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Cosmos DB) schemas; manage migrations.

• Service reliability, API contracts and backward compatibility of owned services.
• Data integrity and secure handling of secrets (Key Vault) and personal data in line with Client policy.
• API performance and scalability against agreed non-functional requirements.
• Unit and integration test coverage; quality of pull requests reviewed.
• Production support of owned services within the agreed support model.

Skills required

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering enterprise applications.
• Strong C# and .NET experience, including legacy .NET Framework and modern .NET versions.
• Deep experience with WPF, XAML, MVVM, desktop application architecture, and multithreading.
• Buy-side investment technology experience, particularly in one or more of the following areas: Portfolio Management Systems (PMS) , Order Management Systems (OMS), Execution Management Systems (EMS), Front-office trading applications, Fixed income, equities, FX, derivatives, swaps, options, TRS, or CDS workflows
• Hands-on DevExpress experience, including complex grids and performance-sensitive user interfaces.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core or equivalent technologies.
• Python development experience for services, automation, analytics, or AI-related components.
• Strong SQL Server development and performance-tuning skills.
• Experience creating both web-based applications and rich desktop/fat-client applications.
• Practical expertise in profiling, diagnostics, memory management, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and Azure DevOps or similar engineering platforms.

What is nice to have

• Azure certifications (AZ-204, AZ-305).
• Experience in financial services, sovereign wealth / investment holding or other regulated enterprise environments.
