Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to pioneer and scale autonomous, agentic SDLC capabilities across our platform. You will shape long-term technical vision, run hands-on experiments, and mentor senior engineers to raise the bar on safety and reliability.

In this remote-friendly role, you will coordinate Architecture, Product, and Data/ML teams to deliver scalable patterns and productizable AI-assisted workflows while ensuring multi-tenant compliance and strong observability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with senior technical leadership
• Deep expertise in AI/ML systems and autonomous workflow design at production scale
• Proven track record in hands-on experimentation and scalable architecture decisions
• Strong background in scalable, multi-tenant distributed systems and observability

Responsibilities

• Define and refine a company-wide technical vision for autonomous, agentic SDLC
• Lead hands-on experiments and prototypes validating agentic workflows
• Mentor senior engineers and raise the bar for technical execution
• Coordinate with Architecture, Product, Infrastructure, and Data/ML teams
• Ensure safety, observability, and human-in-the-loop controls across systems
• Represent GitLab in external communities and conferences
