Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. in Kraków is seeking a Security Foundations Engineer to help build and operate core security components across Splunk Core Platform, ensuring secure handling of secrets, auditing, cryptography, and regulatory compliance.

You will design, implement, and test features in C++ and Go, collaborating with peers to improve reliability and security while contributing to 24/7 on-call duties and broader Ops/SRE tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of related experience.
• Production software experience delivering and maintaining code in C++ and/or Go.
• Solid foundation in software design, debugging, testing and secure coding principles.
• Good understanding of Unix/Linux (including shell scripting), networking concepts and cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues methodically and learn unfamiliar parts of a system.
• Experience adopting and applying GenAI tools across software engineering workflows.
• Growth mindset, strong desire to learn, try new technologies, and take on new challenges.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, debug, and maintain core security components and capabilities using C++ and Go to support secure, reliable, and scalable product functionality.
• Deliver well-scoped features, fixes, enhancements, automation, and operational improvements from design through implementation and completion.
• Write clean, maintainable, and secure code with strong unit and integration test coverage to improve product quality, reliability, and compliance.
• Investigate product and production issues to identify root causes and contribute to durable fixes, while participating in 24/7 on-call support and broader Ops/SRE responsibilities to help ensure service availability and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product management, support, and engineering partners to improve system behaviour, deliver customer value, and grow ownership over broader technical areas over time.
