Job description

Women At Risk, International (WAR) is searching for a part-time Sales Associate to work in our 44th Street Boutique. The position is part-time 15-20 hours per week (flexible schedule) with the possibility of additional hours reaching 20-30 hours per week over time. The Sales Advocate plays an important role at WAR as they are the first and sometimes only, interaction that many individuals have with the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance while sharing the mission of the store.
  • Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate products.
  • Achieve individual and store sales goals.
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently.
  • Handle cash, credit and returns in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and product displays.
  • Restock shelves and monitor inventory levels.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and concerns professionally.
  • Stay informed about product features, partner stories, promotions and pricing.
  • Suggest additional processes or programs to initiate and build sales.
  • Record and follow through on special orders and customer requests.
  • Maintain an awareness of store’s goals and initiatives and work to meet goals through excellent customer service and effective selling techniques.
  • Maintain an awareness and control of loss prevention through attentive customer service.
  • Perform additional duties such as answering the phones, delivering messages, etc.
  • Maintain displays and back‑stock through regular cleaning, straightening and dusting.
  • Receive and stock orders as they are delivered.
  • Perform price changes as directed by the Sales Lead.
  • Work as part of an effective team, using your unique skills and abilities to contribute in a positive way while respecting the roles and contributions of other team members.
  • Contribute to overall sales growth of the store through excellent customer service.
  • Actively promote and invite customers to host pop‑up boutiques, VIP events and special shopping experiences.
Skills / Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous retail sales or customer service experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Dependable, punctual and team‑oriented.
  • Self‑motivated, outgoing, energetic and enjoy working with people.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise (typically up to 25–50 lbs).
  • Ability to bend, reach, and walk throughout the shift.
