Job summary

61st Street Service Corporation is seeking a Self-Pay Collections Specialist II for a remote-dominant role serving ColumbiaDoctors in the Tri-State area. The position focuses on follow-up on self-pay balances, securing payments, and setting up payment arrangements with patients or guarantors.

The role requires at least 1 year in physician billing or a third-party payer environment, strong customer service, and knowledge of Epic and billing systems.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED certificate is required.
• A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a physician billing or third-party payer environment.
• Candidate must demonstrate strong customer service and patient-focused orientation.
• Must demonstrate understanding of contracts, insurance benefits, exclusions and other billing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Attempt to collect full payment from patient or guarantor.
• Apply payments collected over the phone to each date of service.
• Establish payment arrangements and document terms in billing system.
• Handle customer inquiries, disputes and complaints; escalate as needed.
• Obtain insurance, demographic, guarantor information and update patient profile.
