Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related software engineering role.
• Strong Python — write clean production code, including backend services exposing REST APIs.
• Advanced SQL with MS SQL Server, including legacy stored procedures.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark (PySpark).
• Experience with dbt — models, tests, macros, layered warehouse design.
• Solid understanding of data warehouse design and data modeling.
• Practical knowledge of ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience migrating legacy code to newer technology.
• Familiarity with data quality, monitoring, and pipeline reliability.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline building and maintenance.
• Understanding of REST standards for system integration.
• Strong analytical problem‑solving and attention to detail.
• Effective communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Openness to learning and exploring new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data pipelines for accounting and tax systems using SQL, Python, dbt and Spark.
• Migrate the data platform to Databricks (lakehouse) and rewrite legacy MS SQL Server procedures.
• Build and maintain a Python backend exposing data over REST API with a web UI.
• Work with raw data and integrate it into the data platform.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines for data engineering solutions.
• Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions.
• Integrate the data platform with other systems and applications.
• Participate in architectural decisions and set engineering standards.
• Conduct code reviews and document solutions, sharing knowledge with the team.
