Job summary

The City of Fort Worth Police Department – Property Control Unit is seeking a Property Control Supervisor to lead staff responsible for receiving, storing, protecting, delivering, releasing and disposing of property or evidence.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, scheduling, ensuring policy adherence, and coordinating resource allocation; the role demands strong organizational and leadership skills within an in-office environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED with supplemental training in accounting, inventory management, property control related to criminal justice procedures and/or warehouse operations.
  • Three (3) years of property and evidence control experience.
  • One (1) year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff; prioritize and assign work; conduct performance evaluations; ensure staff is trained; maintain a healthy and safe working environment; hiring and disciplinary decisions.
  • Establish schedules and methods for property and evidence control services; identify resource needs; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Monitor quality and efficiency of property control programs; drive continuous improvement of services.
  • Conduct safety inspections; monitor alarm systems; ensure security of evidence and property.
  • Ensure compliance with rules governing release of property to crime labs, courts, and agencies.
  • Determine final disposition of property; prepare paperwork for disposal; arrange destruction, donation, or auction.
