Job summary

Sybilla Technologies designs, builds and operates robotic optical observatories for monitoring objects in space. We seek a Product Quality Engineer to ensure quality and compliance across electro-optical systems through their lifecycle.

You will work with engineering, integration, testing, and external partners to oversee quality from components to multi-sensor platforms and observatory installations. English proficiency is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master in Engineering, Satellite Technology, Quality, Electronics, Mechanics, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering in high-reliability environments.
  • Proficient in reviewing technical docs, test results, and records.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality across lifecycle of electro-optical systems and observatories.
  • Oversee integration of mechanical, optical, and electrical subsystems.
  • Manage non-conformances, root-cause analyses, corrective actions.
  • Support risk management and continuous improvement for reliability.
  • Define inspections, verification, validation, and acceptance activities.
  • Review documentation, records, and verification results for traceability.
  • Participate in design, integration, qualification, and test readiness reviews.
  • Maintain and improve quality processes; support audits.

Sybilla Technologies designs, builds and operates robotic optical observatories for monitoring objects in space. The company specializes in complete systems, software for automated data acquisition, analysis, and scheduling of sensor networks. We operate across Space Situational Awareness, Space Surveillance and Tracking, Space Traffic Management, stellar and planetary research, education, and commercial on-demand observations.

About the Role

We are looking for a Product Quality Engineer (Space Surveillance Systems)to take an active role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of our advanced electro-optical systems throughout their lifecycle. You will work across engineering, integration, testing, and external partnerships, providing quality oversight from individual components and subsystems through to multi-sensor platforms and observatory-class installations.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with complex technical systems, solving quality issues at their root, and building effective quality practices in a growing SpaceTech environment.

Your Responsibilities
  • Ensure quality throughout the lifecycle of advanced electro-optical systems, including telescope sensors, multi-sensor platforms, and observatory-class installations.
  • Provide quality oversight during the integration of mechanical, optical, and electrical subsystems.
  • Manage non-conformances, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and product quality issues.
  • Support risk management and continuous improvement activities to enhance product reliability and performance.
  • Define and perform inspections, verification, validation, and acceptance activities for components and integrated sensor systems.
  • Review technical documentation, integration records, test evidence, and verification results to ensure completeness and traceability.
  • Participate in design, integration, qualification, and test readiness reviews.
  • Maintain and improve quality processes, support internal, customer, and supplier audits, and follow up on resulting actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to ensure quality requirements are met and promote a quality-focused culture across engineering and project teams.
What We're Looking For
  • BSc or MA degree in Engineering, Satellite Technology, Quality, Electronics, Mechanics, Physics, or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Product Assurance, Quality Engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • Experience managing non-conformances, corrective actions, and root cause investigations.
  • Practical knowledge of inspection, verification, and acceptance activities for technical products or assemblies.
  • Ability to review and assess technical documentation, test reports, and engineering records.
  • Experience defining, improving, or maintaining quality processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa, FMEA, 8D, CAPA, or similar methodologies.
  • Experience in aerospace, space, defence, medical devices, scientific instrumentation, or another high-reliability industry.
  • Experience with electro-optical systems, cameras, telescopes, sensors, or scientific instrumentation.
  • Experience with verification and validation of complex technical systems.
  • Experience with integration quality activities and collaboration with external partners.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ECSS, or comparable quality standards.
  • Experience participating in customer, supplier, or internal audits.
Nice to Have
  • Basic knowledge of RF technologies and radio communication systems used in sensor, tracking, telemetry, or observatory applications.
  • Previous experience supporting hardware integration or qualification activities within aerospace or space programs.
  • Internal Auditor certification (ISO 9001 or equivalent).
  • Exposure to optical, electronic, or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Experience working with suppliers and external partners.
What We Offer
  • Hybrid work model from Bydgoszcz or the Tricity agglomeration (HQ in Bydgoszcz/Zielonka).
  • Compensation: PLN 14,000 – 18,000 gross on employment contract depending on your experience and qualifications.
