Job summary

Piano in Warsaw is seeking a Product Manager for Billing Infrastructure to lead the strategic evolution of our core subscription billing engine as we replace it with Stripe Billing. You will own complex billing workflows across proration, upgrades/downgrades, dunning, invoicing, and tax handling, at the integration boundary with Stripe.

• Proven PM experience in subscription billing or recurring revenue infrastructure.
• Experience integrating Stripe Billing at scale.
• Strong technical understanding of proration, multi-currency, tax, and revenue recognition.
• Experience operating within SAFe 6 and making data-driven ROI analyses.
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
• Active use of AI tools to accelerate market research, discovery, and product analysis.

Responsibilities

• Strategy & Roadmap: Co-develop and own the 3–12 month billing roadmap alongside Product Leadership, tracking Stripe’s capabilities to decide when to leverage native features versus building custom logic.
• Program Backlog & SAFe 6: Own and prioritize the Billing Program Backlog (Features/Enablers) using WSJF/RICE frameworks; lead PI Planning and empower initiative‑assigned Product Owners to execute autonomously.
• Billing Operations & Metrics: Define and monitor KPIs for billing accuracy, subscription lifecycle efficiency, dunning optimization, and churn reduction.
• Technical & Domain Alignment: Work closely with Architects, Engineering, and VP of Product to navigate Stripe Billing integration patterns, technical feasibility, and platform constraints.
• AI Tooling & GTM Enablement: Leverage AI tools for discovery, data synthesis, and analysis, while equipping Sales, Pre-Sales, and Customer Success to confidently market and support billing capabilities.

About The Role

As the Product Manager for Billing Infrastructure, you will lead the strategic evolution of Piano’s core subscription billing engine. Piano is executing a large-scale platform transformation to replace its internal billing engine with Stripe Billing across all subscription lifecycle events.

This is a deep, infrastructure-focused product role. You will manage complex billing logic — proration, upgrades/downgrades, dunning, invoicing, and tax handling — at the integration boundary between Piano’s orchestration layer and Stripe’s billing primitives, ensuring fast execution without compromising revenue accuracy.

Requirements

• Deep Billing Domain Expertise: Proven PM experience managing complex subscription billing, invoicing, or recurring revenue infrastructure.
• Hands-on Stripe Billing Experience (Must-Have): Demonstrated track record integrating, configuring, and operating Stripe Billing at scale.
• Technical Billing Depth: Mastery of billing logic complexities, including proration, upgrade/downgrade workflows, multi-currency handling, tax, and revenue recognition.
• Agile at Scale: Experience operating within scaled frameworks (SAFe 6 preferred) and making data-driven decisions backed by ROI analyses.
• Fluency in English (C1+): Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; additional European languages are a plus.
• AI Fluency: Active use of AI tools to accelerate market research, discovery, and product analysis.
