Job summary

A leading technology company in Poland is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their Data Engineering Team. The role focuses on leading and mentoring engineering teams, while shaping platform architecture and best practices. Successful candidates will have extensive experience in software development with Golang, Python, or C/C++, and a strong understanding of distributed systems. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely or on-site as part of a global flexible working program.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in software development with modern programming languages.
• Deep expertise with distributed systems architecture and networking protocols.
• Advanced experience in DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
• Extensive experience with Observability, Performance Analytics, and security tooling (Prometheus, DataDog).

Join our Data Engineering Team! The Data Engineering team is part of Cloud Technology Group, which delivers cutting‑edge cloud and edge networking solutions to the market. We design, implement, deploy and operate data streaming platforms with a primary mission to enable product teams to develop high‑performing, operationally safe and secure products in an agile manner.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead and mentor multiple engineering teams while shaping platform architecture and strategy. You will define engineering best practices and lead development of DevOps tools ensuring 100% availability and ultra‑high performance for data streaming platforms.

Responsibilities

• Architecting and overseeing the delivery of highly scalable, fault‑tolerant, and performant systems across complex projects as well as contributing to them
• Leading integration and enhancement of data streaming services on Akamai Platform with an emphasis on large‑scale performance analytics
• Directing development of next‑generation DevOps automation tools to optimize delivery pipelines and operational excellence
• Driving automation initiatives to achieve operational workflows, minimizing manual interventions
• Establishing enterprise‑level observability and monitoring frameworks to drive proactive system insights and continuous improvements

Do What You Love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have relevant experience and a Masters diploma in Computer Science or another related field or its equivalent
• Have experience (+12) in software development with Golang, Python, C/C++, or Java (at least 3), demonstrating mastery in multiple languages and complex codebases
• Have deep expertise (+10) with distributed systems architecture, Linux networking, TCP/IP, SSH, SSL, HTTP protocols, including designing for extreme scalability and reliability
• Have advanced experience (+8) in DevOps practices and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Helm, Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, with ability to architect and optimize enterprise‑wide deployment pipelines
• Have extensive experience (+8) with Observability, Performance Analytics, Security tools like Prometheus and DataDog, including building custom monitoring solutions at scale
• Have practical experience with big data platforms like Hadoop and Spark; expert‑level design principles for handling massive data sets and streaming pipelines
• Have expert‑level skills in bash scripting, SQL, REST API design, and troubleshooting complex, large‑scale, high‑availability production environments
