Agentic AI is changing more than what software can do. It’s also changing how we build it.
For industrial companies, that opens up two exciting opportunities: using intelligent agents to solve complex operational challenges, and finding smarter ways to design, develop, and maintain software.
But where does Agentic AI genuinely add value? How do you know which ideas are worth pursuing? And what does it take to make them work in real industrial systems and engineering workflows?
These are the conversations you’ll lead at Etteplan.
We’ve spent over 40 years combining engineering expertise with technology to solve complex industrial challenges. With specialists in software, embedded systems, and engineering, we understand both the possibilities of new technologies and the realities of putting them to work.
We’re now growing our Advisory Services team within Software and Embedded Solutions (SES) and looking for a Principal Consultant specializing in Industrial Agentic AI.
This is a role for someone who can see the bigger picture without losing sight of the technical details. Someone who can talk strategy with executives, dive into architecture with engineers, and help customers make confident decisions about where Agentic AI fits into their business and software engineering practices.
At Etteplan, you’ll work at the forefront of Industrial AI, helping shape how intelligence is embedded into industrial products, systems, and development processes. You’ll join a newly established Advisory team with strong strategic backing and leading consultants in cybersecurity, data, enterprise architecture, and design & change.
Why this role is worth a closer look
You get involved before the big decisions are made.
You’ll work with customers when challenges are still being defined and the technology direction isn’t set in stone. You’ll help them identify where Agentic AI makes sense, where it doesn’t, and what it would take to move forward.
You’ll explore more than one side of Agentic AI.
Some conversations will focus on using agents to tackle industrial challenges, such as predictive maintenance, quality deviation analysis, or production planning. Others will look at how agentic approaches can accelerate software development and improve engineering workflows. You’ll help customers navigate both.
Your work doesn’t stop at a recommendation.
At Etteplan, advisory and engineering go hand in hand. You’ll work closely with architects and delivery teams who can take the agreed direction forward and turn it into real solutions.
Your impact goes beyond customer projects.
You’ll help shape our Agentic AI offering, consulting methods, and best practices. You’ll also share your expertise with lead engineers and architects, building capabilities across Etteplan.
You’ll help shape how our advisory capabilities develop.
You’ll have a say in how we grow our technology advisory offering, while collaborating with specialists from different engineering and technology backgrounds.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading early-stage customer engagements, from discovery and problem framing to feasibility and maturity assessments and recommendations on the way forward.
- Helping customers identify and assess opportunities for Agentic AI, both in industrial applications and in the way software is designed, developed, tested, and maintained.
- Advising on Agentic AI architectures and adoption approaches, balancing business value with technical feasibility, reliability, safety, scalability, and the realities of existing systems and workflows.
- Turning complex business and engineering challenges into clear use cases, architecture concepts, and practical roadmaps.
- Exploring how agentic approaches can accelerate software engineering, helping customers assess where they can improve development workflows and what needs to be in place for successful adoption.
- Working closely with architects and delivery teams to connect advisory recommendations with implementation.
- Supporting sales and pre-sales in strategic customer discussions, bringing technical insight and helping customers understand what’s realistically achievable.
- Developing Etteplan’s Agentic AI offering, consulting methods, and best practices, while mentoring lead engineers and architects and encouraging an AI-first mindset across software and embedded engineering.
What We’re Looking For
- You have at least 8 years of experience in consulting, advisory, or other senior client-facing roles, and you’ve led complex engagements or strategic technology discussions with customers, including senior executives. You know how to build trust with both business and technical stakeholders.
- You have deep knowledge of Agentic AI architectures, backed by practical experience designing, evaluating, or developing solutions involving autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, and orchestration patterns.
- You have a strong background in software engineering and system architecture. You understand how software is built, developed, and maintained, and can assess how Agentic AI could change those processes.
- You understand the realities of industrial, embedded, or edge environments, including reliability, safety, observability, lifecycle management, and technical constraints.
- You’ve worked in at least one complex, engineering-driven domain, such as manufacturing, energy, automotive, or defense.
- You’re able to look at Agentic AI from different angles. You can connect its potential in industrial applications with opportunities to improve software engineering, even if your hands-on experience is stronger in one of those areas.
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity. You can take a loosely defined challenge, ask the right questions, and turn it into a clear, actionable direction.
- You can move naturally between conversations with executives, architects, and engineering teams. You explain complex topics clearly and aren’t afraid to challenge assumptions when there’s a good reason to.
- You focus on measurable business value and operational outcomes, rather than introducing technology for its own sake.
- You’re comfortable working independently in international, multidisciplinary environments.
Nice to have
- Experience advising on or introducing AI-enabled approaches to software development.
- Experience with AI-driven transformation initiatives, technology platform development, or large-scale software modernization.
- Experience assessing the limitations, risks, or reasons behind AI solutions failing in production environments.
If you enjoy figuring out where Agentic AI can make a real difference, whether that’s in industrial systems or the way software gets built, we’d love to hear from you.
