Job summary

Sensor Tower seeks a Platform Engineer to improve the infrastructure, developer tooling, and delivery workflows used by more than 100 engineers. The role blends infrastructure and software development, with a 65/35 split.

You’ll work on cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, observability, CI/CD, and internal tooling. You’ll enhance developer productivity with internal tools, improve CI pipelines, and work on product features while expanding observability across the stack using

• Experience building and maintaining complex CI/CD workflows.
• Software development experience including internal tools, APIs, or backend services.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud provider.
• Telemetry/monitoring experience (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Kibana).

Responsibilities

• Improve developer experience by building tools and workflows for testing and shipping software.
• Maintain infrastructure automation with Ansible, Terraform, and Terragrunt.
• Improve the reliability and performance of CI/CD workflows.
• Investigate slow builds, failed pipelines, and flaky tests.
• Develop internal tools, improve test infra, and occasionally work on product features.

We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to improve the infrastructure, developer tooling, and delivery workflows used by more than 100 engineers.

The role combines infrastructure and software development, with an approximate 65/35 split. You’ll work on cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, observability, CI/CD, and internal tooling. The goal is to make development and releases more reliable, efficient, and straightforward.

What you’ll do

• Improve developer experience and engineering productivity by building tools and workflows that make it easier for engineers to develop, test, and ship software.
• Maintain infrastructure automation with Ansible, Terraform, and Terragrunt.
• Improve the reliability and performance of our CI/CD workflows.
• Find the causes of slow builds, failed pipelines, and flaky tests.
• Develop internal tools, improve test infrastructure, and occasionally work on product features.
• Improve observability across our infrastructure and delivery workflows using OpenTelemetry, ELK.
• Leverage AI to improve engineering workflows by building cloud-based agent tools and helping teams adopt effective practices.

Our tech stack

AWS, Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, ELK, ClickHouse, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Ruby-on-Rails.

What we’re looking for

• Experience developing and maintaining complex CI/CD workflows.
• Software development experience, such as building internal tools, APIs, backend services, or automation.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud provider.
• Telemetry and monitoring experience (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Kibana).
• Strong Computer Science and System Design fundamentals.
• Willingness to learn and use Ruby and/or Go.

What we’d be particularly excited about

• Experience optimizing CI build times, especially with Jenkins.
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Experience with Ruby, Python, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with build systems such as Webpack or Gradle.

You don’t need to know every technology in our stack. We value strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to work on different types of engineering problems.
