As part of U.S. Bancorp’s Corporate Risk Management and Compliance Division, the Operational Risk Management (ORM) Department assesses enterprise-wide operational risk levels and trends, determines the effectiveness of operational risk controls, and works with Business Lines (BL) on opportunities to mitigate operational risk.

Join our Operational Risk Management (ORM) team within the Second Line of Defense (SLoD) as a Payments Risk Analyst, where you’ll help shape risk strategies and support operational excellence across a wide range of payment platforms.

What You’ll Do
  • Analyze end-to-CHAPS, Target2, ACH, Wire, RTP, SWIFT, and Zelle payment processes and identify operational risks across systems.
  • Support the development and execution of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) and Business Line Quality Assurance (BLQA) for payment operations.
  • Conduct policy and standard gap assessments to ensure alignment with internal frameworks and Banking Laws and Regulations.
  • Assist in drafting and maintaining enterprise-level policies for managing payment processing risks.
  • Coordinate remediation efforts and track progress to close identified gaps.
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide risk reporting and trend analysis for senior leadership and regulators.
  • Participate in root cause analysis of payment-related issues and support control improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business lines to address regulatory and audit findings.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, or payment operations.
  • Experience in, or understanding of, risk reporting and trend analysis; risk and control assessment; gap assessment; and root cause analysis.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in operational risk or payment systems within financial services.
  • Knowledge of payment networks (CHAPS, Target2, ACH, Wire, RTP, SWIFT, Zelle).
  • Familiarity with RCSA, BLQA, and regulatory compliance processes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and process mapping software.
  • Experience with GRC platforms like Archer.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
