Job summary

Sii Poland is seeking a Field Inspection Engineer (NDT) to join projects delivered by Sii. The role focuses on field inspections, NDT activities, and technical support for maintenance of heavy port equipment at international terminal sites.

The position is field-based with approximately 80% international travel; candidates should have a technical engineering background, NDT certification, and strong reading of drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fabrication, welding, or maintenance in industrial environments.
• Valid NDT certification (ISO 9712, AWS or equivalent).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 80%) and work at height.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDT inspections and quality checks on steel structures, welds, and mechanical components of port equipment.
• Verify compliance of fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair activities with technical documentation, standards, and project specs.
• Identify and report non-conformities, prepare punch lists and detailed inspection reports.
• Support maintenance and repair activities through on-site assessments of equipment condition.
• Interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
• Participate in crane condition monitoring and maintenance programs at international terminal sites.
• Ensure all work complies with health, safety, security and environmental regulations.

Job description

For our client from the port and container terminal industry, we are looking for a Field Inspection Engineer (NDT) to join projects delivered by Sii.

The role is focused on working with heavy port equipment such as STS, RTG, RMG and MHC cranes, combining field inspections, NDT activities, and technical support for maintenance and repair operations in an international environment.

The position is field-based and requires approximately 80% international travel to terminal sites worldwide.

Your tasks

• Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections and quality checks on steel structures, welds, and mechanical components of port equipment
• Verify compliance of fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair activities with technical documentation, engineering standards, and project specifications
• Identify and report non-conformities, defects, and deviations, including preparation of punch lists and detailed inspection reports
• Support maintenance and repair activities through on-site technical assessments of equipment condition
• Interpret technical drawings, engineering documentation, and specifications
• Participate in inspection and advisory activities related to crane condition monitoring and maintenance programs at international terminal sites
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with health, safety, security, and environmental regulations and procedures

Requirements

• Technical education in mechanical, structural, or hydraulic engineering (or related field)
• Valid NDT certification (ISO 9712, AWS or equivalent)
• At least 5 years of experience in fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, or maintenance in industrial environments
• Experience with heavy equipment such as cranes, port or terminal machinery is an advantage
• Good understanding of mechanical and structural systems, including basic hydraulic components
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
• Good command of English (technical communication and documentation)
• Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 80% of working time) and work in field conditions
• The work is carried out at height, including on steel structures, so candidates must have no medical contraindications to working at height
• Fluent Polish required
• Residing in Poland required
