Job summary

Stuart, a sustainable last-mile logistics company, is seeking an Accountant in its Warsaw central office. You will own the General Ledger for Poland and the UK, ensuring accuracy and compliance across local GAAPs while collaborating with cross-border teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Native Polish language proficiency.
• Full professional proficiency in English.
• Strong knowledge of local GAAPs for Poland and the UK.
• Experience with NetSuite and Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate GL for Poland and the UK ensuring compliance with local GAAPs.
• Participate in standardized Month-End-Close procedures with accuracy and deadlines.
• Prepare and report VAT, respond to tax enquiries to ensure compliance.
• Support auditors with documented schedules and evidence.
• Perform balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations using NetSuite.
• Collaborate with departments to improve financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a dedicated Accountant to join our regional accounting function and help bring analytical rigor to our financial operations.

You will take ownership of maintaining the General Ledger for our entities in Poland and the UK, operating within a culture where "good enough" is replaced by "accurate and scalable". This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative generalist who enjoys working across borders, leveraging modern ERP systems, and learning from different departments.

• Maintain accurate accounting books and the General Ledger (GL) for our operations in Poland (Ustawa o Rachunkowości) and the UK (FRS 102 - UK GAAP), ensuring compliance with local GAAPs.
• Actively participate in standardized Month-End-Close (MEC) procedures, ensuring all deadlines are met with accuracy.
• Prepare and report local VAT, and promptly reply to any tax-related enquiries to ensure we remain 100% compliant with local requirements.
• Support internal and external auditors by utilizing your generalist accounting knowledge to prepare schedules and provide necessary documentation.
• Perform balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, utilizing our established Oracle NetSuite ERP system.
• Partner with various departments to gather financial data and understand operational processes, contributing to the continuous improvement of our workflows.

What do we need from you

• 3+ years of experience in an accounting role.
• Native-level proficiency in Polish
• Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory.
• Solid foundational experience in general accounting principles, GL management, month-end closing, and VAT reporting. JPK_VAT (SAF-T polish) and Making Tax Digital (MTD) in UK.
• Strong knowledge of local GAAPs, especially for Poland and the UK.
• Familiarity with ERP ecosystems; experience with NetSuite and general Excel expertise is highly desirable.
• A true team player who is able to effectively establish strong working relationships across all levels and functions.
• A detail-oriented mindset with the curiosity and eagerness to understand the "big picture" of how the broader business operates.
