Job summary

Amarillo ISD Maintenance is seeking a skilled Carpenter to perform construction, alteration, repair, and installation of fixtures, buildings, and structures district-wide. The role emphasizes safe, quality maintenance of district facilities with daily physical tasks and occasional long hours.

Responsibilities include framing, drywall, window/door installation, interior systems, exterior trim, and scaffolding setup.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalency preferred.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license.
Three years experience working in the carpentry or construction trade desired.
Read blueprints and diagrams; measure and perform calculations.

Responsibilities

Perform basic framing, firewalls, and installing drywall.
Install windows and doors.
Interior systems including drywall, insulation, acoustical ceilings, moveable partitions, access panel systems, fixture work.
Rough framing for floors, walls, joists, and related components.
Exterior finishing including cornice and trim; frame installation.
Erect scaffolding safely and correctly; follow safety guidelines.
Read blueprints and schematics; work from sketches and instructions.
Address unsafe conditions and report them to supervisor.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Ensure compliance with policies and laws relevant to maintenance work.
