Job summary

Cisco Kraków is seeking a motivated engineer to join the Security Foundations Engineering team within Platform Engineering. You will help build, test, and maintain core security components that enable secure management of secrets, auditing, cryptography, and compliance across our SaaS and On-Prem offerings.

You will write clean, secure code, deliver well-defined features, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with senior engineers to grow your skills and take on increasing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree with 1–2 years of related work.
• Experience delivering production software in Go and/or C++.
• Understanding of software design, debugging, testing and secure coding.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux, networking, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Willingness to adopt GenAI tools in software engineering workflows.
• Strong English communication skills.

As the Security Foundations Engineering team within the Platform Engineering organization, we own and operate foundational platform security components that enable secure management of secrets, auditing, cryptography, and compliance capabilities across our product portfolio. Our work aligns with internal and external security standards, industry best practices, and rigorous compliance requirements. We are a team of 10+ engineers working in a fast-paced, high-velocity environment, leveraging innovative technologies. Our customers include internal engineering teams as well as end users, and we support critical use cases that ensure the security, compliance, and functionality of our SaaS and On-Prem offerings. We build and maintain a fleet of cloud-based, highly available platform security services deployed across multiple geographic regions on multiple cloud service providers.

Your Impact

As a member of the team, you will contribute to building, testing, and maintaining core security components to support secure and reliable product functionality. You will deliver well-defined features and improvements, write clean and secure code, and assist in solving product and production issues. You will also participate in on-call rotations and support operational tasks to help maintain service availability for our cloud-based platform security services. Collaborating with senior engineers and other teams, you will grow your skills and take on increasing responsibility over time.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree or bachelor's degree plus 1-2 years of related experience
• Experience delivering and maintaining production software in Go and/or C++
• Understanding of software design, debugging, testing, and secure coding principles
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux (including shell scripting), networking concepts, and cybersecurity fundamentals
• Ability to solve technical issues methodically and learn unfamiliar parts of a system
• Willingness to adopt and apply GenAI tools across software engineering workflows
• Growth mindset with a strong desire to learn, try new technologies, and take on new challenges
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to cloud infrastructure across multiple cloud service providers and familiarity with DevOps practices
• Basic knowledge of containerization technologies and container orchestration with Kubernetes
• Experience with automation tools like Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipeline management
• Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including secrets management, auditing, cryptography, and compliance
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk
