Job summary

EA-RS Group Ltd. is seeking an Installation Engineer to install, commission, test and hand over fire detection, security, life safety and electrical systems across multiple sites in the UK.

You will interpret drawings, ensure compliance with current regulations, and maintain professional standards while liaising with clients and stakeholders. The role requires a high standard of workmanship, with on-site execution and teamwork to support project delivery and ongoing safety and quality

Qualifications

  • Experience with fire alarm, access control, CCTV and intruder alarm systems.
  • Full UK driving licence and ECS/CSCS Level 3 qualification.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and commissioning documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and hand over fire and security systems per specs.
  • Read drawings and installation plans accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Carry out first- and second-fix installation and commissioning.
  • Liaise with clients and colleagues to support project delivery.

Job DescriptionEA-RS Group - Fire & Security Installation Engineer Join one of the UK's fastest-growing fire and security specialists. We design, install, and maintain critical systems including fire alarms, suppression systems, and security controls across sectors such as healthcare, education, housing, and commercial properties.

Job Overview / The purpose of the role The Installation Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning support, testing, and handover of fire detection, security, life safety, and electrical systems in accordance with client specifications, company procedures, and current UK legislation and standards. The role requires a high standard of workmanship, technical competence, and professionalism to ensure all installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry regulations. The engineer will work independently and as part of a team across multiple sites, representing EA-RS Group Ltd to clients and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to project delivery, maintain excellent customer relationships, and support the company's commitment to quality, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install fire alarm systems, emergency lighting systems, access control / door entry systems, CCTV systems, intruder alarm systems, electrical containment, wiring systems, and associated equipment in accordance with design specifications and current standards.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, installation plans, specifications, and commissioning documentation.
  • Ensure all installations comply with current legislation, including Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, and relevant British Standards.
  • Carry out first-fix, second-fix and commission of installation works to a high professional standard.
  • Install containment systems including conduit, trunking, basket, tray, cable ladder, and associated supports.
  • Conduct cable installation, termination, labelling, and testing activities.
  • Complete installation / commissioning documentation, site records, test sheets, and handover paperwork accurately and promptly.
  • Identify and report design issues, site variations, technical problems, and potential risks to management.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, consultants, site managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company quality procedures and project programmes.
  • Follow all site-specific health and safety requirements including RAMS, permit-towork systems, and PPE requirements.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, training programmes, and continuous professional development activities.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to apprentices and junior engineers where required.
Experience
  • Experience working with fire alarm systems, access control systems, CCTV systems, intruder alarm systems, and electrical installations.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • ECS Card or CSCS Card Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation, Fire & Security Systems, Engineering, or equivalent recognised qualification.
