AFRY is seeking a Hydrotechnical Designer to contribute to diverse water infrastructure projects across Europe. You will join a multidisciplinary team and deliver hydraulic and civil engineering designs, from feasibility studies to detailed design and implementation support.

Based in Poznań with potential to work from Kraków or Łódź, AFRY offers hybrid work and exposure to international projects, fostering personal development and sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least 5 years' experience in planning/design of infrastructure.
• Good English communication in technical env.
• Experience with tendering, quantity take-offs and cost estimation.
• Familiarity with AVA or similar procurement software (e.g. RIB iTWO).
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel).
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and in international teams.

Responsabilités

• Plan and deliver hydraulic and civil engineering projects through all design phases.
• Coordinate surveying, geotechnical investigations and hydraulic analyses.
• Prepare feasibility studies, option assessments and technical concepts.
• Develop retaining walls, waterfront/port structures, pumping stations and related infra.
• Collaborate with CAD designers, technicians and engineers.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Develop construction concepts and implementation strategies, including phasing.
• Support technical solution development and decision-making.
• Prepare technical reports, memos and planning docs.
• Prepare tender documents, specifications and bills of quantities.
• Evaluate contractor bids and prepare award recommendations.

Job Description

As a Hydrotechnical Designer, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging water infrastructure projects that make a real impact. Through the Design Center, you will collaborate with highly skilled professionals in Germany and play a pivotal role in delivering innovative engineering solutions for our clients. It is important that you are a team player who enjoys working in multidisciplinary teams and is eager to learn and develop new skills.

At AFRY, you will contribute to the planning and design of hydraulic and civil engineering projects, including locks, weirs, waterfront and port structures, flood protection systems, pumping stations, navigation infrastructure and other water-related facilities. You will be involved in all project phases, from feasibility studies and concept development through detailed design and implementation support.

Your key responsibilities are:

• Planning and delivering hydraulic and civil engineering projects throughout all design and implementation phases.
• Coordinating surveying works, geotechnical investigations and hydraulic analyses.
• Preparing feasibility studies, option assessments and technical concepts.
• Developing engineering solutions for retaining walls, waterfront and port structures, pumping stations, shafts, chambers, reinforced concrete basins and related infrastructure.
• Collaborating closely with CAD designers, technicians and other engineering specialists.
• Preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Developing construction concepts and implementation strategies, including construction phasing.
• Contributing to technical solution development and engineering decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
• Preparing technical reports, explanatory memoranda and planning documentation.
• Preparing tender documents, technical specifications and bills of quantities.
• Evaluating contractor bids and preparing award recommendations.

Qualifications

We expect that you have:

• A Master's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in the planning and design of infrastructure and engineering structures.
• Good written and spoken English (minimum CEFR B2 level), with the ability to communicate effectively in a technical and engineering environment.
• Experience in tendering, quantity take-offs and cost estimation.
• Experience with at least one AVA or comparable procurement software solution (e.g. RIB iTWO).
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of an international team.

We appreciate if you have:

• Experience in the planning and design of hydraulic structures, water infrastructure, civil engineering structures, bridge, tunnel, geotechnical, special foundation or marine projects.
• Understanding of hydraulic engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural design principles and concrete technology.
• Familiarity with Autodesk-based design environments and CAD workflows.
• Experience preparing technical presentations using PowerPoint.
• German language skills.
