Description

About the role The Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC) is a global network of communications professionals working on climate, energy, and nature. GSCC is a programme hosted by the Meliore Foundation.

We are seeking an innovative Senior Strategic Communications Associate, South Korea with a unique mix of skills and expertise to play a key role in tackling climate change. The successful candidate will join our South Korea team, which leads multiple campaigns and media outreach activities.

As part of the team, you will support strategic communications work across campaigns, policy, and media. The ideal candidate is a highly organised and driven individual with strong knowledge of climate change and the energy transition, combined with hands‑on experience in communications and campaigning.

This is a maternity cover position running until February 2027, starting any time from January 2026. There is potential for renewal based on performance and mutual interest.

How you'll contribute
  • Develop and implement the GSCC South Korea strategy.
  • Serve as a source of local intelligence and insight for the network.
  • Build, convene, maintain, and facilitate networks of partners across policy and political issue areas to drive greater operational impact.
  • Monitor domestic debates in traditional and online media, co‑develop strategies for influence, and strengthen digital engagement capabilities where needed.
  • Provide communications services, strategic advice, and media relations support to regional partners, as well as to the global network and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the global network to contribute to research and deliver relevant, localised content; process ACT packages from other GSCC desks and produce regional ACT packages for the network.
  • Assist, attend, and/or lead at major international events in other regions as required.
  • Act as a contact point for the network for key international partners when needed.
  • Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on communications efforts as required.
  • Manage and coordinate vendors and freelancers to support key tasks.
  • Any other duties to be assigned from time to time.
Our ideal candidate has
  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in communications or news media.
  • Native Korean proficiency and strong English skills; other Asian languages are a plus.
  • Broad and detailed understanding of climate and energy issues.
  • Strategic instincts for impactful communications work.
  • Knowledge of digital engagement trends and tools.
  • A collaborative, self‑motivated, and adaptable mindset, able to work at pace across time zones in a remote setting.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and occasionally work outside standard hours.
