Your responsibilities
- Own the Global Procurement Data Quality (DQ) framework (standards, critical data elements, controls, and scorecards) aligned to HSBC data governance expectations.
- Set DQ improvement priorities; coordinate delivery, track progress, and report outcomes to senior stakeholders, linking impacts to business KPIs.
- Maintain a rules library for key processes and proactively monitor DQ via dashboards/automated controls; identify new issues, prioritise, and lead root-cause analysis with process owners to agree remediation.
- Build strong partnerships across Procurement, Technology, and data governance to embed DQ into day-to-day operations; establish and run cross-functional working groups and provide updates via the Procurement Design Authority.
- Ensure change and transformation programmes incorporate DQ and data integrity activities in plans, with quantitative outcomes agreed and signed off at design stage.
- Define practical “ready for AI” criteria (lineage, stability, metadata) for procurement datasets and certify compliance before use in AI use cases.
- Design and oversee a Data Drift Monitoring framework to protect ML model integrity and detect model decay early.
- Act as a trusted advisor and representative for Global Procurement: lead complex problem-solving with ExCo+1 stakeholders, transform DQ reporting into action-led insights tied to operational risk/business impact, and share best practice via bank-wide DQ forums.
Our requirements
- 7+ years’ experience leading data quality initiatives with clearly demonstrable outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of data governance/management and tooling for documenting artefacts (e.g., data models, data dictionaries, Collibra).
- Solid understanding of the data and analytics delivery lifecycle, including data modelling, SQL fluency, and familiarity with data science concepts.
- Highly analytical, with a strong grasp of the value of data and the ability to apply technology solutions to meet business needs.
- Resourceful and inquisitive, able to build subject matter expertise quickly and tackle complex problems creatively.
- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deliverables while showing resilience, ownership, and accountability through to resolution.
- Strong project management capability, able to drive cross-functional delivery within time, cost, and quality constraints (including influencing without authority).
- Confident communicator and trusted advisor to senior stakeholders—able to negotiate, challenge constructively, and translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences in a global, regulated environment (data privacy awareness; GCP/QlikSense and architecture/process mapping knowledge preferred).
