Job summary

Billennium is seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer to join a major European public-sector project. You will design and develop scalable backend systems, APIs, and services using Java, with focus on financial programming, public procurement, or grant management.

You will work in an international environment, collaborating with distributed teams and implementing messaging and database solutions (Oracle/MySQL, Kafka/JMS/ActiveMQ). Prior experience in scaled Agile environments is essential.

Qualifications

• Higher education in a technical field (ICT/STEM) with at least 3 years of university education confirmed by a diploma.
• Proven professional experience in Java backend development.
• Experience designing and developing APIs.
• Practical experience with Oracle and MySQL.
• Experience with messaging technologies: Kafka, JMS, ActiveMQ.
• Experience delivering large-scale IT systems for the public sector.
• Familiarity with scaled Agile frameworks SAFe or LeSS.
• English at B2/C1 level.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend solutions using Java.
• Create and maintain APIs and backend services.
• Work with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL).
• Design messaging solutions using Kafka, JMS, ActiveMQ.
