E&C Poland is seeking a highly experienced Fire Fighting Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a pivotal role focused on the comprehensive oversight and execution of Fire Fighting and Protection System packages for complex, industrial capital projects. We are looking for a technical expert to lead from the conceptual phase through to final commissioning. You will serve as the primary contact responsible for ensuring all fire protection systems comply with the highest quality standards, industry codes, and client specifications. The position places a strong emphasis on the detailed design of Fire Water (FW) systems, the supervision of 3D modeling efforts, and the technical coordination of vendors and stakeholders to ensure safe and effective project delivery. The role is based in Kraków, Poland.
Lead the Design Phase: Act as the lead for feasibility, concept studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed design. Develop Core Documentation: Prepare and review Fire Protection Philosophies, Loss Prevention deliverables, Firefighting System Calculations, Hydraulic Studies, PFDs, P&IDs, and Equipment Datasheets. Detailed System Design: Execute detailed designs for: Underground Fire Water (FW) systems (including Hydrants and Monitors). Aboveground fixed Fire Water systems. Water Spray Systems. Calculations: Perform, supervise, and verify hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing for FW systems.
Cross-Discipline Review: Provide Technical Safety input on engineering documents from other disciplines (Process P&IDs, Plot Plans, General Arrangements) to ensure constructability and design safety. Safety Studies: Initiate and manage studies performed by specialist consultants, including HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, QRA, FERA, and EERA. 3D Modeling: Supervise and participate in 3D PDS FW piping modeling and layout creation. Vendor Management: Coordinate Purchase Orders (POs) for Fire Fighting and F&G Detection systems, and validate vendor technical documentation.
Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and job training to junior engineers to ensure schedule adherence and quality. Testing & Commissioning: Participate in and formally approve final tests at supplier facilities (FAT) and oversee on-site acceptance and commissioning of installations. EPC Coordination: Monitor Technical Safety and Loss Prevention engineering with the EPC contractor to meet project timelines.
NFPA Certification Life Safety Code: Expert-level knowledge. Water Spray Systems: Expert knowledge in both Design and Hydraulic Calculations. Fire Water Pumps: Expert knowledge of specifications and operation. Software: Confirmed proficiency in AutoCAD. Familiarity with 3D PDS modeling is highly valued. Very good written and spoken English (must be capable of leading technical clarification meetings and managing complex documentation). Proven experience in industrial capital projects. Ability to act as a Lead Engineer. Strong capability in coordinating with Clients, Vendors, and Stakeholders.
